Greinargerð um aðferðir og hugtök 207 Flokkun menntunar í vinnumarkaðskönnunum 1 Menntun á fyrsta stigi. 1.0 Barnapróf eða þaðan af minni menntun. 2 Grunnmenntun - menntun á öðru stigi, fyrsta þrepi. 2.1 Unglingapróf, grunnskólapróf eða miðskólapróf, þ.m.t. landspróf. 2.2 Gagnfræðapróf eða eins árs nám úr framhaldsdeild gagnfræðaskóla. 2.3 Starfsmenntun á námskeiðum sem nema 100 kennslu- stundum hið minnsta en minna en einu skólaári, auk grunnmenntunar. 3 Framhaldsskóiamenntun - menntun á öðru stigi, öðru þrepi. 3.1 Framhaldsmenntun sem jafngildir tveggja til fimm anna námi eftir grunnmenntun. 3.2 Framhaldsmenntun sem jafngildir a.m.k. þriggja ára námi eftir grunnmenntun. 3.9 Framhaldsmenntun eftir grunnmenntun, ótiltekin náms-lengd. 5 Sérskólamenntun - menntun á þriðja stigi, fyrsta þrepi (minna en fyrsta háskólagráða). 5.1 Iðnmeistarar. 5.2 Sérnám sem jafngildir tveggja til þriggja anna námi eftir framhaldsskólastig, s.s. 4. stig vélstjórnar, 4. stig skipstjórnar, læknaritaramenntun og menntun iðn- fræðinga. 5.3 Menntun á háskólastigi sem jafngildir tveggja til þriggja ára námi með lægra prófstigi en sem samsvarar fyrstu háskólagráðu. 6 Háskólamenntun - menntun á þriðja stigi, fyrsta þrepi (fyrsta háskólagráða). 6.1 B.A.,B.S.,B.Ed. próf eða sambærilegt próf, þ.m.t. próf úr uppeldis- og kennslufræðum. 6.2 Kandidatspróf eða samsvarandi próf, hvort sem um er að ræða fyrsta eða annað prófstig svaranda. 7 Háskólamenntun - menntun á þriðja stigi, öðru þrepi. 7.0 M.A. eða M.S. próf eða samsvarandi próf. 8 Háskólamenntun - menntun á þriðja stigi, þriðja þrepi. 8.0 Doktorspróf eða samsvarandi próf. 9 Upplýsingar ófullnægjandi. Ekki var alltaf hægt að flokka menntun eftir lengd skóla- göngu vegna skorts á upplýsingum. Ekki var t.d. spurt um lengd náms í húsmæðraskólum eða lengd sjúkraliðanáms. Var þá flokkað eftir hæsta menntunarstigi. Arin 1996 - 1998 var ekki gerður greinarmunur á því hvort svarandi hefði lokið stúdentsprófi eða prófi af tveggja ára námsbraut úr verslunarskóla eða samvinnuskóla. Ef ekki lágu fyrir aðrar upplýsingar voru þau svör flokkuð með kótanum 3.9, óvíst um lengd skólagöngu. Þetta á einnig við um flokkun mennt-unar úr vélskóla í vorkönnun árið 1996 þar sem ekki var hægt að greina hvaða stigi (1.-3.) svarandi hefði lokið. í sömu könnun var heldur ekki hægt að greina hvort svarandi hefði lokið 3. eða 4. stigi skipstjórnar. I þeim tilvikum var lægra stigið valið nema athugasemdir eða upplýsingar úr fyrri könnunum bentu til annars.
