What constitutes a ‘queer’ artwork? Is it the sexuality or gender of the artist? Is it a
reference or pointer within the work which suggests queerness or otherness? For some
time, sexuality has not been thought of as ’the geographic centre’ of queerness, whilst it
has also been suggested that the future is queerness’ domain. My work utilizes text and
language, whilst at the same time my work is often about ’what we don’t say’. Maybe
this points to the future being a time when we can truly say we know what freedom
tastes like - more joy.
