ÍSLENZKIR FUGLAR XIII 137 Islands (2), West-Greenland (1), Newfoundland (1) and Nova Scotia (1), and kittiwakes ringed in the British Isles, Norway and N. Russia (Murman coast) have been recovered in Icelandic waters. Very little is known about the food and the feeding liabits of the kittiwake in Iceland, although small fishes and zooplankton are known to be the most important food items. Fishes recorded as food include juvenile stages of Clupea harengus, Mallolus villosus, Pollachius virens, and Ammodytes lancea. Planktonic crustaceans, especially euphausids, liave also been recorded as an important food item. The kittiwake also feeds regularly on fish offal on the fishing banks around lceland as well as in ports, and it habitually follows in the wake of ships, snatching up anything edible which may be thrown over board. LEIÐRÉTTING. í grein minni í síðasta hefti Náttúrufræðingsins um heildargeisl- un sólar í Reykjavík hafa orðið tvær skekkjur. 1) er á bls. 72 í töflu II. Þar á meðaldaggeislunin í júní að vera 246.5 cal/cm2, en ekki 173.9 cal/cm2. — 2) við töflu II og III á bls. 72 hefur láðst að geta þess, að erlendu mælingarnar eru gerðar á láréttan flöt, en ekki kúlu, og hafa dr. Ángström og Eysteinn Tryggvason veðurfræðing- ur bent mér á, að samanburðurinn myndi því sennilega ekki geta staðizt. CORRECTION. Two errors have appeared in my report on total solar and sky radiation in Reykjavík in the last number of „Náttúrufræðingurinn". I) on page 72, table II. The daily mean value of tlie total radiation in June is said to be 173.9 cal/cm2 instead of 246.5 cal/cm2. — 2) also on page 72. A remark is missing from tables II and III, that the foreign measurements have been made on a liorizontal sur- face and not on a spherical one. Dr. Angström and Mr. Eysteinn Tryggvason at the Meteorological Bureau have pointed out to me, that the comparison would therefore probably not be tenable. Rjarni Helgason.
