2 Frá 1. janúar 1998 fékk faðirinn sjálfstæðan rétt til 2ja vikna fæðingarorlofs innan fyrstu 8 vikna eftir fæðingu bams. 1 January 1998 an independent right
was entered for fathers to two weeks paternity leave in the first 8 weeks after the child's birth.
3 Ný lög um fæðingar- og foreldraorlof komu til framkvæmda 1. janúar 2001. Foreldraorlofssjóður greiðir 80% launa í foreldraorlofi. New Act on maternity/
paternity leave andparental leave came intoforce as of 1 January 2001. A maternity/paternity leavefundpays up to 80% ofaverage earnings during the leave.
