days and 90% occupational rate. Beds in mixed medicine and surgery wards at small hospitals are included under “Medicine”. “Other” consists ofbeds in
geriatric wards, for rehabilitation and long-term care in hospitals.

útskriftardagar jafnan verið meðtaldir í fjölda legudaga en í alþjóðlegri skýrslugerð aðeins annar dagurinn. Hér hafa legudagar og meðallegutími verið leiðréttur
með tilliti til þessa. Figures refer to the year 1995. Included are patients who have been admitted in small hospitals for less than 90 days. In Iceland both the
day of admittance and the day ofdischarge have generally been included in the number ofbed-days but only one ofthese days in the other Nordic countries.
Here number bed-days have been corrected as to include only one ofthem by reducing the number ofbed-days by the number ofdischarges x 0.9.
