24 Neyslukönnun 1995 7.3 Útreikningur heildarútgjalda Að lokum var búin til samsett vog sem tekur bæði til mismun- andi líkinda á að lenda í úrtakinu og mismunandi líkinda á þátttöku. Þessari vog var síðan beitt til að reikna heildarútgjöld eftir útgjaldaflokkum. Nánari grein fyrir útreikningi voga og heildarútgjalda er gerð í viðauka 2. 7.4 Ahrif voga Þegar vegið er vegna mismunandi úrtakslíkinda minnkar vægi heimila með marga einstaklinga 18 ára og eldri. Ahrifin eru því mest á heimilisgerðir þar sem eru hjón með stálpuð böm og í flokknum „aðrar hei milisgerðir". Þegar vegið er vegna mismun- andi þátttöku eftir heimilisgerðum em áhrifin hins vegar mest áeinhleypingsheimili þar sem svömn þeirra varlökust. Heildar- áhrifin urðu þau að vægi stórra heimila minnkaði en vægi lítilla heimilajókst. Þessi leiðrétting gerir niðurstöður könnunarinnar áreiðanlegri en ella. Eftir að þessum vogum hafði verið beitt var vegið hlutfall einhleypra 26%, hjóna og sambýlisfólks án barna 17%, hjóna og sambýlisfólks meðböm 39%, einstæðra foreldra 8% og annarra heimilisgerða 10%. 7.3 Calculation of total expenditures Finally, a composite weighting was created incorporating the different probabilities both for being sampled and for taking part. This weighting was then applied in order to calculate total expenditures by groups. A more detailed explanation of the calculation of weighting and total expenditures is given in Appendix 2. 7.4 The impact of the weightings Adjusting data on the basis of different probabilities of being sampled reduces the relative share of households with many individuals aged 18 and over. Therefore, the impact is greatest on households comprising a couple with older children and in the category other households. Adjusting data on the basis of different levels of participation by type of household, has the greatest impact on one-person house- holds, since their response rate was lowest. Thus the total effect was that the weighting of large households was re- duced and that of smaller households increased. Such an adjustment enhances the reliability of the survey results. 8. Þátttakendur 8. Participants 8.1 Meðalstærð heimila A þeim 1.375 heimilum sem þátt tóku í neyslukönnuninni bjuggu 4.519 einstaklingar eða um 1,7% af þjóðinni miðað við þjóðskrá 1. desember 1995. Vegin meðalstærð heimilis var 2,82 eintaklingar: 1,11 böm og 1,71 fullorðnir. Meðal- stærð heimila í þéttbýli var minni en í dreifbýli og minnst á höfuðborgarsvæðinu. Heimilisgerð var mjög mismunandi eftirbúsetu. Þessar tvær heimilisgerðir em með flesta heimilismenn og heimili í dreifbýli em því stærri en heimili annars staðar á landinu. 8.1 Average size of households The 1,375 households responding to the HBS had 4,519 individuals living in them, or 1.7% of the population of Iceland according to the National Register of Persons on December 1, 1995. The weighted average size of household was 2.82 individuals, 1.11 children and 1.71 adults. Average household size in towns outside the capital area was lower than in other communities, and lowest of all in the capital area. A marked difference emerged in type of household according to residence. One-person households were rela- tively more common in the capital area than elsewhere. In other communities, couples with children and “other house- holds” accounted for just over 76% of the total while in the capital area this proportion was just over 58%. 7. yflrlit.
