Ömólfur Thorlacius (f. 1931) lauk fil.kand.-prófi í
líffræði og efnafræði frá Háskólanum í Lundi í Svíþjóð
1958. Hann var kennari við Menntaskólann í Reykjavík
1960-1967, Menntaskólann við Hamrahlíð 1967-1980
og rektor þess skóla 1980-1995. Samhliða
kennslustörfum hefur Ömólfur samið kennslubækur
og hann hafði um árabil umsjón með fræðsluþáttum
um náttúrufræði í útvarpi og sjónvarpi. Hann var um
skeið ritstjóri Náttúrufræðingsins.
