The EFTA Surveillance Authority (ESA) monitors compliance with the Agreement on the European Economic Area (EEA Agreement) in Iceland,
Liechtenstein and Norway, enabling those States to participate in the Internal Market of the European Union.
ESA is an international organisation, independent of the States, which safeguards the rights of individuals and undertakings under the EEA
Agreement, ensuring free movement, fair competition and control of state aid. ESA's work helps remove barriers to trade and open up new
opportunities to over 450 million Europeans, creating jobs and growth and adding to the international competitiveness of the States.
ESA is based in Brussels. It currently employs staff members of 19 nationalities. ESA is led by a College consisting of three Members, each appointed
for a period of four years by the three participating EFTA States.
Role Description
ESA is recruiting a Director to lead its Legal and Executive Affairs
Department (LEA).
LEA is responsible for providing legal advice to the College and the
other departments of ESA on all aspects of EEA law including internal
market, competition and state aid law and the implementation and
application by the EEA EFTA States of their obligations under the EEA
Agreement. All formal decisions taken by ESA are examined by LEA
prior to adoption. The Department conducts litigation on behalf of ESA
before the EFTA Court, the Court of Justice of the EU and the General
Court of the EU. In addition, LEA provides support with regard to policy
formulation and co-ordination and ESA’s Communications Team is
embedded within the Department.
LEA is a multi-disciplinary team, comprised of legal advisers, commu-
nications professionals and administrative staff. The Director is sup-
ported by the Deputy Director and Head of Commu-nications and has
overall responsibility for the management and leadership of 12 staff
members. In matters pertaining to press releases and other communi-
cations with the press, the Head of Communications reports directly to
College.
In accordance with ESA’s policy on recruitment, applications are par-

in our Senior Management Team.
The Director is designated by ESA to manage the affairs of the depart-
ment in accordance with the instructions of the College and governing
documents. The Director is responsible to the College and has the fol-
lowing tasks:
• Supervising and co-ordinating the work of the department
• Preparing decisions to be adopted by ESA
• Co-ordinating actions with the European Commission’s Directorate-
general covering the same field of work
• Giving independent legal advice

Rekstarstjóri í framleiðslu ber ábyrgð á þróun og bestun framleiðsluferla, sér
um að framfylgja framleiðslu- og fjárhagsáætlunum ásamt starfsmannamálum og
daglegri stjórnun deildarinnar. Einnig tekur rekstrarstjóri þátt í stefnumótun og
þróun sviðsins.
Við vi l jum ráða manneskju með góðan skilning á vélbúnaði, gæðamálum og fram-
leiðslu bestun. Starfið krefst góðrar tækniþekkingar og háskólaprófs í tækni- eða
mat væla tengdum greinum. Reynsla af sambærilegu starfi er ótvíræður kostur en þó
ekki skilyrði.

Starfið heyrir undir framkvæmdastjóra framleiðslu- og tæknisviðs sem er ábyrgt
fyrir al lr i framleiðslu, vélbúnaði, húsakosti og nýframkvæmdum.
