On August 6-8, Vía publishing and the Nordic House in Reykjavík will host a conference focusing on
and exploring marginalization in the Nordic region. Contributors are from all the Nordic countries
as well as Greenland, Faroe Islands and Sápmi. The topics will include colonialism, white feminism,
queerness, ableism, immigrants, emigrants & asylum seekers, hate speech, the intersections of all
this and marginalization in general. We will reflect on whether the status of equality paradise is
getting in the way of talking openly about marginalization in the Nordic region. Vía will publish a
volume with over 20 articles on these topics. The aim of the conference is to bring together artists,
people of minorities who have experienced marginalization, experts and all those interested
in having the conversation about where we really stand when it comes to equality. The Nordic
countries are renowned for being frontrunners in equality, but is that really the case?
