America (the Giant Bark Aphid) and closely related to L. liquidambara Taka-

insect taxa: Plants: Alnus sp., Belula sp., Corylus sp., Fagus sp., Pterocarya sp.,
Acer cf. tricuspidatum Bronn,? Plalanus sp., Insects: Longistigma caryae Harris

The geology of the Mókollsdalur site is still not completely known. It may
be related to an old caldera which seems to be found in the central Kollafjörð-
ur area or to the Króksfjörður central volcano. Tliese relationships are currently
under study. The Mókollsdalur locality is probably late Miocene or earliest
Pliocene.
