Straumnes was about 65 miles.

88/7 An airplane en route to Mestervig re-
ports the ice boundary 60—70 miles N of Cope
Straumnes. Cooncentration for the first 20 miles
s/io. then mostly unbroken coverage along the
22nd meridian to Cape Brewster. No ice near
Jan Mayen but a broad belt of ice along the
eastern coasts of Greenland extending to 1°
E.l. at 79° N.

The average distance of tlie drift ice bound-
ary from Cape Straumnes was 80 miles with
nearest approach of 40 miles.
3/8 The boundary of drift ice: 6500/3900
to 6525/3720 to 6515/3600 to 6540/3440, thence
ice free to 6700/3030 from whence ice bouncl-
ary is running to 6740/2800 to 6800/2430 to
6830/2100. Many icebergs along the Greenland
coast within 5 miles distance.
5/8 Scattered fields of drift ice mostly along
the Greenland coast and within 30 miles
distance off shore. A system of belts and fielcls
off the NW-ern coasts of Iceland with a south-
eastern boundary running from 6650/2550 to
6730/2230.
7/8 From 6640/2800 to 6620/2640 to 6630/
2500 to 6650/2415 to 6725/2445 to 6700/2220
to 6830/2150'to 6900/2000.
24/8 Boundary roughly indicated from 6530/

3745 to 6528/3730 to 6545/3600 to 6614/3441,
thence two miles off coast to Cape Jörgensen
to 6652/3345 to 6722/3200 to 6747/3140 to
6800/3000 to 6830/2600 to 6850/2440 to 6915/
2420 to 6920/2215 to 6938/2200 to 7000/2040
to 7030/2100 to 7100/2000 til 7130/2000.
