discusses factors which have an
effect on people’s well-being in-

four categories: physiological, che-
mical, biological, and social and
emotional.

CIALTY SHOP
Here the focus is on a cheese spe-
cialty shop located on Skólavörðu-
stígur in downtown Reykjavflc. The
architects working on the project
had to create a suitable interior for
the shop which is a mere 60m- in
size and into which a considerable
amount of equipment had to be fit-
ted. The result can be seen on the
accompanying photos.

Professor Jóhannes B. Sigurjónsson
here writes about the Industrial
Design Engineering program at the
Norwegian College of Engineering
in Trondheim. The factors leading
to the founding of the department
and the course of study there are
discussed. A short interview with an
Icelandic student at the college
accompanies the article.

A competition was held in 1998 to
elicit proposals for the expansion of
Keflavík International Airport. A
number of entries were received
and, of those, three were chosen for
further development. This article
discusses the proposals in their sec-
ond stages and gives details of the
winning suggestion, which was
contributed by Andersen & Sigurds-
son I/S, Holm & Grut A/S and
Manfreð Vilhjálmsson, Arkitektar
ehf.
