Rev. Guttormur Guttormsson
Reverend Guttormur Guttorms-
son, Vice-President of the Icelandic
Evangelical Lutheran Synod of
North America, died at Spokane,
Washington, July 25th. He was
returning to his home at Minneota,
Minnesota, following the 72nd con-
vention of the Synod at Vancouver,
B.C., at which he had presided.
Reverend Guttormsson had
served the Synod for 47 years . . .
first in the home mission field and
in Churchbridge, Saskatchewan,
and at Minneota from 1918.
This modest scholar will be
sincerely missed by his parishion-
ers, by his many friends, his co-
workers in the ministerial association, his wife who watched over
him through hours of failing health and their splendid children.
The funeral was held at Minneota, in St. Paul’s Lutheran
Church, on July 30th, conducted by Rev. E. H. Sigmar, assisted by
Rev. Olafur Skulason, Rev. Skuli Sigurgeirson and Rev. Johann
Frederickson.
