bakteríusýkingar meiri hækkun á CRP en sýk-
ingar af völdum veira. Rannsóknir á sjúkling-
um með botnlangabólgu hafa staðfest þetta en
þar er næmið hærra en fyrir aðra bólgusjúk-
dóma og þá ekki síst hjá börnum, yngri en 15
ára, með kviðverki þar sem hengiseitilbólga
(lymphadenitis mesenterica) er algeng mis-
munagreining (23,24). Varðandi CRP mæling-
ar er vert að hafa í huga að tímalengd einkenna
skiptir máli þar sem prófið hækkar fyrst að
einhverju marki eftir 10-12 tíma hjá sjúklingum
