8. Before they part they play another game on the
board at the giant’s suggestion and the stakes are the
same as before. The same happens: the giant loses.
Vilhjálmr then orders him to bring a horse with saddle
and bridle, all equally as splendid as the armour he has
previously given him, and to find out whether his father
is dead or alive and, if alive, where he is to be found. The
giant is reluctant and says that it will bring him scant
good fortune to have any dealings with Vilhjálmr, and
that this is not the last occasion on which they will play
against each other. Vilhjálmr replies that this is not so
and commands him to return before a month has passed.
Upon this they part. Vilhjálmr comes home from the
forest and tells Dixin what he has acquired. Dixin warns
