2. Comments on the individual manuscripts
A1:
sw has been expanded as svo in accordance with
3:37.
h° has been expanded as hon in accordance with ho
5:264. Note, however, that hvn occurs 6:17.
ko, 3rd pers. pl., has been expanded kvomv, as in
11:16.
ggr, gg etc. have been expanded geingr, geingv, as in
5:60.
i and u almost always occur in endings (exceptions
include heime 1:4, gvlle 4:23, avngvo 4:100). In the
edition, therefore, v°, f° have been expanded as vorv,
forv. The name hlodv' has been expanded with -ir.
It is obvious that the scribe’s pronunciation inclu-
ded a svarabhakti vowel, since the old ending -r is
normally represented by the ur-abbreviation symbol.
The ending is never written -ur in full; on the other
hand, there are a number of instances of both old -r
and old -ur written as r (2): rennr 3:24, onnr 4:39,
hygg2 5:118, fagi 9:81. kr and m have been expanded
as kongvr and madvr.
A nasal stroke above a vowel has been expanded as
a single nasal: e = en. mti and mtt are never written in
full in the portion of the text written by hand I but
they have been expanded as mælti and mœlt in
accordance with the form melti employed by hand II,
5:275 and 276.
þ has been expanded as þat and the Tironian note
has been expanded as ok.
Superscript 2 in medio-passive endings has been
expanded as -zt in accordance with ber\rizt 5:97,
kvezt 5:239.
.e. has been expanded edvr in accordance with 2:9.
(Note, however, that eda occurs in the same line).
