SUMMARY
Paratuberculosis has never been recorded before in Faroe Islands.
One sheep with symptoms of paratuberculosis was killed and the diag-
nosis was confirmed by microscopy and cultivation at the State Veterinary
Serum Laboratory, Copenhagen.
The disease was caused by an orange-pigmented strain of Mycobacterium
paratuberculosis.
Research will be carried out to find how widespread the disease is and
how the morbidity is under the speciel circumstances in Faroe Islands.
