SUMMARY
The present article deals with the measurement of lakes in the Faroe
Isles.
By way of introduction reference is made to the few geographical contri-
butions to studies of lakes in the Faroe Isles. For the morphological research
of the lakes Fjaliavatn, Leynavatn, Stóravatn, Heygsvatn, and Vatnið á
Mølini described in the present article the echo sounding equipment Sea-
farer 3 (149 khz) was mostly used. A neon indicator marked out the
depth on a calibrated centre dial. The boat used was a Pioner 7 (weight
35 kilos). The measurements are shown in tables (1.—5. talva). The routes
are drawn with dashes on the maps of the lake (1.—5. mynd).
