the value of these though perhaps in the meantime they mainly
serve to acquaint us with the extent to which church camps can be
developed where means and conditions and availability of
leadership exists.
The first hand information reported to us by Mrs. Henrickson
who visited Camp Nawakwa as our representative last year and a
later meeting of camp Deans attended by our educational convener,
Rev. E. H. Fafnis, have much value as directional guides in planning
a camp’s educational program, but the development of which can
only be hoped for over a course of years in camp management and
experience.
We can well feel indebted to our friends of the United Lutheran
Church who extend to us this opportunity of acquainting ourselves
with their advanced camp methods and organization and who stand
ready at all times to assist us with instructional literature as well
as services of personnel if we find ourselves in a position to
make use of their good offers. We must remember however that
all the factors that have made these model camps possible are as yet
not within our reach and that we must be content and patient
to work out our own plans from year to year, or even from decade
to decade, as factors and circumstances permit.
In the meantime our Sunrise Lutheran Camp is functioning
and attracting capacity enrollment. It is offering an opportunity
to all so qualified and so minded to help build it up to an attractive
summers vacation centre for our youth and an ever worthier
character building enterprise.
May I at this time, on behalf of the Board of Directors extend
the best of wishes to the Lutheran Women’s League for an enjoyable
and successful convention.
