A Prayer
Infinite Father—We know that Thy love is broader than the
measure of our minds, we acknowledge the narrow boundaries of
our concerns and the limitations of our prayers. Forgive our limited
horizons, our closed minds, our self-centered concerns.
We would remember those for whom we may have forgotten
to pray: We pray for all children and adults confined to solitude
through infectious diseases or paralyzed limbs. We pray for those
who have lost their power of reason and dwell in hospitals. Look
in mercy to all children whose development has been arrested.
Look, also, in mercy to the aged who face loneliness and pain in
homes far from their loved ones.
So long have we worshipped at the shrine of respectability
that we have forgotten the spirit of Christ towards those whom
society has condemned. We ask Thy help for all unwed mothers
and their children. Guide them to victorious lives. Give unto them
friends that reflect Thy love. We pray for all those in jails and
prisons. Save their souls from the bondage of sin and bring them
to know Thy forgiveness.
Help us, Christian women, to rermember that in Thy sight
every soul is precious and direct Thou our activities so that Christ
may be made effective in us and through us so that every human
soul we come in contact with may be brought closer to Thee.
