Getting Acquainted

The value of our conventions does not lie only in the fact that
we lay plans for our future activities and review the past. They
have a great value in giving us a chance to get acquainted. Delegates
come to know each other, a bond is established which unites the
different organizations who are facing common problems and have
common interests. Even if only the surface of the work is touched
in reports read these nevertheless give an insight into the activities
of each organization.
At the last convention there were 21 reports presented. Some
of these did not give the membership of their organizations but of
the eleven that did so, 60 is the highest and 13 the lowest. Most of
the groups hold monthly meetings. One organization held 18 meet-
ings during the year (the Senior Ladies Aid of Selkirk). Talent
money of 10 cents a meeting is put aside by members for some
special project in two organizations.
The interests of all organizations naturally lie along the same
channel. Good cheer funds, donations to their specific church,
hall, Sunrise Camp, Blind Institute, etc. Reports show that the
women’s organizations are aware of the need of funds for the
Betel building project. It is noteworthy that three ladies aids
donated $500.00 each to that fund. Two of these belong to the First
Lutheran Church in Winnipeg and the third is the Senior Ladies
Aid of Selkirk Lutheran Church which counts only 38 members.
All reports breathe goodwill and prayers for the future work
of the Lutheran Women’s League.
