school. Muhlenberg, at present, is the home of the Lutheran Train-
ing Institute, the High School. This will not be for much longer,
as new buildings are being built at Salayea for L.T.I.
The new location of the school is deep in the interior, but cen-
tralizes the education work. It will be a wonderful day when L.T.I.
moves out of its termite-ridden buildings at Muhlenberg and into
the new buildings at Salayea.
Mission House, where we lived and worked, is located in a
suburb of Monrovia, the capital city. It is situated in a beautiful
spot on the beach, overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.
It contains the business office and living quarters of the Busi-
ness Manager, the Bookkeeper, and for guests. Two new homes
were being built on Mission House compound during the last few
months of our term, and have been completed and occupied since
our departure. These houses are for the President of the Mission
and for the Business Manager. This will greatly relieve congestion
at Mission House.
Also on the compound are warehouses and living quarters for
some of the native help.
The supervision of Mission House was, of course, very necessary
but not the most important part of my hisband’s work. Supplying
the other missionaries with their necessities, purchasing and ship-
ping supplies for the building program in the interior was the most
important.
In rain time it was often very hard to get food and kerosene to
the folks in the interior and especially to Zorzor, a distance of 330
miles. There were times that it took the truck six or eight weeks
to make the return trip to Zorzor. The very heavy rains wash out
bridges and often make the roads impassable. It was at such times
as these that the Mission plane was so wonderful to have. The trip
to Zorzor could be made in one hour and twenty minutes by plane.
In this way food could be taken quickly if someone needed it. It also
made it possible for the people between Zorzor and the coast to have
fresh eggs, vegetables and meat when available. In this way the
Business Manager and the Pilot work in close co-operation, to look
after the needs of the rest of the field.
Radio contact is made with each of the Mission stations at least
once a day from Mission House. Having this contact brings every-
