Camp Report

To The Lutheran Women’s League,
In Convention, Winnipeg 1956
Madam President:
Having been reminded that a report is expected from the Camp
Committee I will comply with that reminder and on behalf of the
committee, submit a report of a kind.
I will confine myself to matters that have developed since the
closing of camp last fall, as all operational data will have been
accounted for in the respective reports of the Director, Secretary
and Treasurer.
At the first meeting of your committee held in March of this
year, it became apparent that Mrs. Ingibjorg Olafsson who so ably
has guided the affairs of the camp since it was established would
no longer be in a position to assume these arduous responsibilities.
This gave your committee some concern as we knew that a suc-
cessor to Mrs. Olafsson would be hard to find. When we became
definitely convinced that Mrs. Olafsson’s resignation was to be
considered as final we set about looking for at least, a temporary
replacement and while doing so received an enquiry from a person
with former camping experience, who was looking for just such
an opportunity as we had to offer.
This man is Mr. Frederick G. Lueders, student in theology at
the North-West Seminary, Minneapolis.
It may be thought by some that we are unnecessarily going
beyond our own boundaries in this matter, but at that it cannot
be said that we are “out of bounds” in so doing, as we have always
enjoyed the co-operation of U.L.C.A. departments in our camp work.
Mr. Lueders comes well recommended and both he and his wife
are interested and experienced in camp work.
The arrangement with Mr. Lueders is that he comes here ac-
companied by his wife and 2 children (2 years and 4 months) and
