Abstract
Research communities
The paper is based on a part of the author´s MLIS research
project which is an analysis of the research community
of Old Icelandic studies. Some relevant theories from
phenomenological sociology, epistemology and philosophy
of science are discussed, for instance those by Husserl,
Kuhn, Popper, Whitley, and Foucault. Research traditions
in library- and information science are also dealt with and
it is discussed how domain analysis can be defined as a
research method in the field.
