Explanatory Notes.
1) ,,Ratc of reporting“ indicatcs the part of total number of insured working weeks in each
group for which data have becn collected in the present report.
2) The meaning of the conccpt „establishment“ in the present report is almost idcntical %vith
that recommended as census unit by the Statistical Office of the United Nations (Statistical Papers,
Series M No. 4). An „cstablishment4* is therefore normally an individual factory or w'orkshop wúthin
the manufacturing division. — The concept „accident premiums* payer“ is not identical with the con-
ccpt „establishment*4. The lattcr can be an accident premiums* payer in different industrial groups,
if all its products do not belong to the same group. The number of accident premiums’ payers is there-
fore ordinarily higher than that of establishments in each group.
3) Output (gross) is valucd on the basis of ex-factory selling prices which implies that produc-
tion duties are includcd and subsidics excluded from output values.
4) Raw matcrials, fucl and cncrgy consumed in production arc valued at cost prices.
5) Domcstic raiv materials are, in the first place those produced in the country, and secondly
those of foreign origin which have bcen processed more or less by cstablishments in other domestic
industry groups. Imported raw matcrials are therefore only counted once as foreign materials. Cost of
packing is included in cost of raw materials, but cost of fuel and energy is reported seperately.
6) The goods in lines 21-36 of Table D are almost exclusively different kinds of quarry products
c.g. gravel, sand, stones and pumice.
