1638 p. 4930 it is clear that he has received the book, though indeed
so late that he has not been able to thank for it in 1637.
21. Only preserved in a copy, done by the historiographer St.
J. Stephanius personally, now in the manuscript DG: 12-16, fol.
12-14, in the University Library at Uppsala. Hitherto unprinted.
Undated, but according to Worm in letter no. 20 he cannot have
received it till 1637; cf. also Worm’s expression at the beginning of
letter no. 22, p. 49® and p. 2g44"5. Further A. J. in 1638 refers to the
faet that he has sent Skjoldunga visur the previous year, seep. go31'33.
The beginning and end of the letter are evidently left out of Ste-
phanius’ copy. A. J. has here no doubt written something about the
manuscript of Specimen, which he has sent together with this letter,
see Worm’s reply p. 4817 ff. In the copy the letter has the following
heading: De Chronico Norvagico aliisqve Antiqvitatibus literæ Am-
grimi Jonæ Islandi ad D. Olaum Wormium. Ole Worm’s son, Vil-
lum Worm, lent the original letter to P. J. Resen, see the note to
p. 4225; it is possible that Resen has kept it. Peder Syv has among
his excerpts from Worm’s copies of Icelandic poetry (see the note
to p. 24317) taken some excerpts from letter no. 21 (preserved in
the manuscript Rostg. 21, 40 in the Royal Library of Copenhagen,
pp. 318-19), namely pp. 409-4i22, 4213'22, but the excerpts are great-
ly abbreviated.
Remarks to the translation of Snorri’s kings’ sagas. An explana-
tion of the word Skjoldungar and a rendering and interpretation of
a series of verses from The Fourth Grammatical Treatise in Codex
Wormianus, which A. J. arbitrarily States as being “Skjoldunga
