12718 apud Tacitum: Germ. ch. 8. The manuscripts here have
Avriniam with the variant Albiniam. The name has been corrected
in various ways; some editors (for instance Reeb 1930) keep
Auriniam and consider it a Celtic name. It is the name of a woman
who was worshipped by the Germanic people and raised into a
goddess. Justus Lipsius’ edition of Tacitus appeared for the first time
in Antwerp in 1574, and was later repeatedly issued. Schedius i.e.
