presented by the ratio of pages in 0 to pages in
Stockh. 46; for Partal. this ratio is 6,4:74, i.e. 1:11,6,
while the corresponding figures for Bevers saga and
Ivens saga are 1:10,8 and 1:9,9 respectively.18
The calculation implies, however, that many of the
page and line references to Partal. cited by the lexico-
graphers must be erroneous. This is the case with
‘Stafbirti’ 2:141, which in F. d. 9 is assigned to p. 166,
a reference which is in any case highly unlikely to be
correct, since there are no less than 208 printed lines
between the two quotations which are assigned to this
page. The scribe of F. d. 9 has most probably omitted a
heading, P. 167. (The quotations assigned to p. 169
fit the present calculations). F. d. 9 also assigns ‘Ham-
mar gnipu’ to 170,5; on p. lii above, this quotation
has been tentatively assigned to 9:44, which according
to the present calculation ought to correspond to
171,7.19 It is possible that in this case the page
reference is correct and the line reference erroneous.
A deviation of 2 lines in 0 is within the limits of error
that are to be reckoned with in such a calculation.
The assignment to ‘T.S.’ p. 2, 1. 36 of ‘vrákia’ in
F. d. 6a is probably a result of confusion. Orækia is
named for the first time B1 8:86, i.e. 102 printed lines
after the point which in the calculation corresponds to
the change-over from p. 169 to p. 170 in O. 8:86
should correspond (approximately) to 170,33.20 It
might perhaps be thought that the line reference is
