9. Now Urækia, the sister of Marmoria, thought about a1
where she parted from Partalopi. She now made her way to
3 that same cliff where she had parted from Partalopi. When
she came there, she went up on land. Next she saw where
a horse was running and after [it] a large and savage lion.
e She asked her knights to catch the horse, and thus they did.
Urækia spoke: “I think I recognize this horse, and one shall
go more widely through the forest and find out if we find
9 anything more.” They went now through the forest and soon
found two dogs. When Urækia had gone for a long time
through the forest, then she stepped on a large mound of
12 moss and felt that in it something was moving under her
feet. She spoke: ‘‘What is here under my feet and moves
Iike a living creature. If you are a human being, then answer
it me.” Then there came the answer: “This was a human
being once, but I wanted now to be dead before you would
have come upon me.” She spoke: “I did not expect that I
18 would find you here, but, good fellow, tell me your name,
because I shall gladly take an interest in helping you.”

Now there is to be told that Urækia thought about her b1
situation and now got ready quickly for her trip and went
to search for Prince Partalopi. She now put to sea and came
to that crag where she had parted from him. She saw now
where a lion was chasing a horse and recognized now that.
Partalopi owned that same horse. She asked her men now
to save it, and thus they did. She asked them to search
nearby there through the forest for Partalopi. She herself
also went with them, and they came to a mound of earth
and noticed that something was moving under there. It
began to speak thus: “What men have some here now and
are treading me under their feet ?—low as I am lying under
tree roots.” Urækia spoke then: “Thus I can answer to
God, that here I would not have thought that you were to
be sought, and you shall now stand up, Prince Partalopi,”
