Following the program lunch was served for everyone in
the community hall. On behalf of the Hecla Ladies’ Aid, Mrs. S.
Sigurgeirson presented the League with a beautiful, three-tier
birthday cake, in recognition of its twenty-fourth anniversary and
twenty-fifth convention, the p r e s i d e n t, Mrs. Olafsson, being
allotted the two top layers. Mrs. Olafsson acknowledged this gift
on behalf of the League and herself. Mrs. Gudrun A. Erlendson
thanked the Ladies’ Aid, Undina, for their wonderful hospitality,
for all the delicious food served during the three and a half days
of our sojourn, and for their sincere friendliness.

Formal Closing of Convention — Mrs. Ingibjorg J. Olafsson,
who, as retiring president after ten years in office, thanked all
her co-workers for wonderful support, expressed her satisfaction
with this convention and her certainty that all problems would
be solved and difficulties untangled, with the help of divine
guidance.
Following lunch, Mrs. Olafsson was presented with a birthday
gift from delegates and friends, a tribute to her fine personality
and leadership through the years.
CONVENTION BUSINESS IN BRIEF
The Convention sent flowers and greetings to Mrs. Ingiridur
Jonsson, Winnipeg, Mr. and Mrs. M. M. Jonasson, Arborg and
Mrs. Sigridur Tergesen, Gimli, who are all struggling with illness.
Accredited representatives attended the convention as follows:
29 delegates from 14 societies, 12 officers, members of the Board
of Directors and other committees, 1 honorary member and 1
individual member, a total of 43.
Reports were submitted by the various officers and conveners
outlining the year’s work of the L.W.L., and also by 19 of the 20
