„Þá er að minnast á stiftisbókasafnið“
Þá er að minnast á stiftisbókasafnið; það hefur fengið Edduna frá skólabókasafninu, og alls á árinu 89 bindi (nr.),
og hef eg í skýrslunni til stjórnenda safnsins tekið það fram, að nauðsyn bæri til að þakka fyrir bókasendingar
þessar bæði Rafni, þó hann sé tregur á að supplera það sem vantar í af bókum þeim, sem hann hefur gefið út
( : Gröndals hist. Mindesmærker og Fornaldarsögur) – Friðriksháskóla, sem ávallt sendir hingað á hverju ári, og
Ameríkumönnum, sem ekki gjöra heldur hina fyrri gjöf sína endasleppa, hvernig sem fer um endurgjald til þeirra.
Frá Konungsbókasafninu höfum við ekkert fengið, nema frá „Kongens Haandbibliothek“ held eg séu bækurnar
undir „4“ í yfirlitinu. Eg nenni nú ekki að senda yður skýrsluna, eða réttara sagt, má ekki vera að skrifa hana, –
því eg get ekki játað á mig leti – „2. yfirlit“ stendur á listanum, af því að hann er frumrit til listans, sem eg sendi
stjórnendum bókasafnsins, en „1. yfirlit“ var listi yfir lántakendur (sem voru liðið ár 58), léð bindi (sem voru 1422) og
tekjur (tillagseyrir) bókasafnins (sem voru 42 rdl). Þann lista sendi eg heldur ekki, af sömu orsökum og skýrsluna
sjálfa.
