The king inquired in detail about that which he saw that
his son wanted to say little about. Partalopi now told every-
thing exactly to King Hlodver, his father, about his journey.
When the king heard this news, then he asked his son that
he should now give up such foolishness and said that that
was nothing but ocular delusions which had appeared to
him then. He said he would like to seek for him that match
which would be the best in all France, if he wished then
to listen to his words. Partalopi did not take much heed
of that. The king now pondered how he might bring about
that his son, Partalopi, would agree with that plan which
he might have in mind for him. The king now sent for two
very lovely girls, and when they had come there, Partalopi
began to sport with them so that he did not .remember
Marmoria. They lay three together then in one bed, and
once he was so drunk that he lost his senses. Then he wanted
to have intercourse with the one girl, and she agreed to it.
Then the one whom he was not having anything to do
with got up and went out of the quarters and left the door
