thought long since dead. That is Partalopi, your sweet-
45 heart.” Marmoria spoke: “Do not remind me of my sorrows.
That I know, that my joy will never be so great that I can
see Partalopi, because you told me he was dead.” Urækia
48 spoke: “He was sitting on that black horse yesterday, whom
all called the best knight, and he is now in iny quarters.
Now have all your chieftains called together tomorrow,
51 and find out froin them their plan.”
The following morning she had it done. When they came,
they said to her that “that knight who won the victory
54 from our knights yesterday—him we choose for you for a
husband and for us for a chieítain, if we find him.” She
asked for the king of Franee to be summoned to her, and
57 when he came to her, she seated him on the throne beside
her and asked if he knew anything of his son. He answered:
“For that reason I came here, that I knew that, if he were

Now kings and many other great men came there and
now lead Prince Partalopi into the largest and greatest
hall of the emperor with all kinds of rejoicing and with
