Christmas is near. The festive spirit is quietly seeping into our daily life. In St. Martin-in-the-Fields, possibly London’s most popular church, on the fringe ofTrafalgar Square, a monster fir tree is ablaze with light and loaded with gifts. For this is London's Christmas Tree—the tree on which city workers place their presents for both young and old. Soon the bells of St. Martin’s, familiar to radio listeners, will ring out announcing the season of Peace and Goodwill. 18
