These re- sults should be interpreted with caution due to the low number and the limited geo- graphical range of the sites. It is possible that fjord effects and aspect were more im- portant in this area than at other places in the Faroe Islands. However, the resem- blance of the ordination plot to that for the other stations suggested that the same fac- tor was underlying the first axis in both or- dinations. For the nine stations all situated in one fjord system, the fjord index may have been a more reliable estimator of ex- posure than the exposure index. The appar- ent effect of aspect may have been due to a positive correlation with the fjord index — in that there happened to be more south-ori- ented stations farther into the ijord.
