LÆKNABLAÐIÐ
Fullorðnir með sjúkdóm Menetrier hafa auk
þess aukna tíðni annarra sjúkdóma svo sem
hjarta- og æðasjúkdóma og alvarlegra eða
endurtekinna sýkinga.
Hvað varðar einkenni og horfur er nánast um
tvo ólíka sjúkdóma að ræða hjá börnum og
fullorðnum. Til þessa hefur þó þótt rétt að
líta á þetta sem einn og sama sjúkdóminn
hvað varðar samsvarandi röntgenmyndir,
magaspeglun og vefjabreytingar. Sjúkdómur
Menetrier er enn kenndur við manninn, sem
fyrstur lýsti þessu fyrirbæri fyrir meira en
einni öld.
Þrátt fyrir að þetta teljist fremur sjaldgæfur
sjúkdómur hjá bömum, þótti rétt að minna á
tilvist hans með skrifum þessum. Þar með má
bæta honum í mismunargreiningarsafn okkar,
hvað varðar bjúg og blóðprótínlækkun hjá
börnum.
SUMMARY
A 21/2 year old boy with Menetrier’s disease
is described. Clinical symptoms included
fatique, loss of appetite and peripheral edema.
Hypoalbuminaemia without proteinuria was present.
These findings abated within 2 weeks and X-ray
changes (hypertrophy of gastric mucosa) within
3 months. Different presentation and prognosis
of Menetrier’s disease in children versus adults is
discussed.
