The solution of the veaor, S of the first
derivatives is found by iteration, starting
with trial values of po, qo and so, which
are inserted into both the S vector and the
information matrix I, of the negative ex-
pection of the second derivatives.
Improved values, pi, qi, and Si are then
obtained as:

where V = I'1 = the variance — covariance
matrix (Bailey, 1961) and the iteration con-
tinued until the change in the parameters from
the previous round are negligible.

Ritgerðin lýsir aðferð við að reikna út fóstur-
dauða, sem faðir fósmrsins veldur. Við út-
reikninginn er gerður samanburður milli
eðlilegra og afbrigðilegra hrúta á fjölda áa,
sem beiddu upp, urðu einlembdar eða áttu
tvö lömb.
