Equally doubtful are the parallels between K/ns and CV7 in the follow-
ing verses: 25 (C 35, V4 diff.), 143 (C 170, V4 om.), 157 (C 187, V4
om.), 458 (C 707, om. V4), 676 (C 994, om. V4), 768 (C 1100, om. V4),
776 (C 1110 droiz emperere, O = V4 = T e dist al rei), 954 (C 1331,
V4 diff.), 1371-72 (C 2325-26, V4 abridged).
In the passage describing Valdabrun, O vv. 1562-70, V4 1536-43, there
appears to be some kind of connection between Kms and the MSS T and L.
CV7 and P have omitted vv. 1563-70, V4 follows O except in v. 1563.
Presumably T and L here represent the original version rimée. The dif-
ference between O and Kms is found in the translation of vv. 1563:

Only the first line is preserved in D and S.
The mention of the spurs in TL and the saga seems to indicate that k
had a verse of the same type as T v. 930. But the words standa upp i moti
cannot be a translation of adouba or givaler ert, for both the T and the V4
verses are perfectly clear and could not give rise to the Kms reading. It
must be an attempt to translate the difficult expression celoi levat. The V4
version is probably another attempt to explain the difficulty, and the addi-
tion about the spurs cannot have been in the source of V4, because if it
