It is likely that the compiler of Nockrar eptertakanlegar smá historiur made
use of the widely popular and rearranged Promptuarium exemplorum
compiled by Philip Lonicer (1532–1599),13 which was first published in
Frankfurt in 1575 under the title Theatrum historicum by the Sigmund
Feyerabend print shop.14 Evidence of such dependence is provided by an
