horseman, and had been for some time presi-
dent of the Association of Icelandic Horse-
men when he died.
Foresters and horsemen combined to erect

friends.
XXI. National Celebration Grove.
In 1974 1100 years had passed since the
first settlers made their home in Iceland. It
was a year of national celebration.
R.S.S. wanted to do their share by founding
a special grove within Heiðmörk on this oc-
casion. Collection for money for this purpose
among individuals and firms in Reykjavik
was undertaken.
Contributions amounted to several hundred
thousand kronur, and 7560 seedlings, mostly
lodge pole pine and birch, were planted in
the area chosen for the National Celebration
Grove.
It has been decided, that collection of money
and planting of trees will be continued this
quarter century anniversary year of Heiðmörk.
XXII. Resumé.
In this chapter is shortly resumed what has
been accomplished in Heiðmörk during the
past quarter of a century, and what may be
expected during the next quarter century, as-
suming continued activity along the same lines.
