Some polychaetes new to the Icelandic fauna

Seven species of l’olychaeta are recorded as new to the Icelandic fauna:
Eulalia bilineata (Johnston) 1840 (Phyllodocidae). One specimen íound
intertidally near Reykjavik; four collected from dead shells and debris trawled
at 35 m in Faxaflói, 64° 05' N, 22° 31' W (Fig. 1).
Polydora quadrilobata Jacobi, 1883 (Spionidae). Abundant in sand and mud
on the lower shore and subtidally in several localities in SW Iceland and one
in NW Iceland (Fig. 2). Taken with young (20—25 segments in tubes in late
March and early April.
Pygospio elegans Claparede, 1863 (Spionidae). Found at three localities in
SW Iceland; intertidally, in shallow water, and in a coastal pond (salinity 24—
26%0). Locally abundant. Taken in great quantities (2200—34000 individuals/
m2) at 4 stations (depths 2—4 m) near Akureyri, N Iceland. (Fig. 2).
Scolelepis fuliginosa (Claparéde) 1868 (Spionidae). Four specimens taken in
sand under stones on the upper beach on Álftanes, SW Iceland (Fig. 1).
Ampharete finmarchica (M. Sars) 1864 (Ampharetidae). One specimen with-
out tube taken at 66° 28' N, 13° 53' W, depth about 140 m (Fig. 2). Previously
reported front 64° 42' N, 27° 43' W, 802 m (Wesenberg-Lund 1950).
Chitinopoma groenlandica (Mörch) 1863 (Serpulidae). Two localities in SW
Iceland (Fig. 1). Numerous on shells, stones and bryophyte colonies on the
lower shore. Previously reported doubtlully from Icelandic waters by Wesen-
berg-Lund (1951).
Spirorbis tridentatus (Levinsen) 1883 (Serpulidae). Abundant in several
localities on the lower shore in SW Iceland (Fig. 1).
