Ársrit Bandalags lúterskra kvenna 67 After her marriage, in 1895, to Duncan Steele Curry, at that time comptroller of Winnipeg, she satisfied her desire to travel and see distant places. Thus their children were born in various world cities: Evelyn in Winnipeg; Isabel in San Francisco; a child who died young in London, England; and Peter in Copenhagen, Den- mark. When Mr. Curry retired they moved to the salubrious climate of San Diego, California, to make their home, and there Mrs. Curry was widowed. She made yearly visits to Winnipeg and became interested in various charities. Among these was Sunrise Lutheran Camp, which benefited by generous gifts from her annually. One of these gifts was a completely furnished cottage at the camp which bears her name: “Bertha Curry Cottage.” Her sincere desire to serve and support worthy causes was an inherent part of her character. She is survived by three children: Evelyn, wife of Admiral Sprague (retired); Isabel, wife of Capt. Erskine (navy, retired); and Peter D. Curry of Winnipeg; also several grandchildren and great- grandchiidren. “Her work shall praise her.” Margret Stephensen BERTHA LAXDAL CURRY Tribute Paid at Convention of Lutheran Women’s League On May 7, 1955, a good and faithful friend of our camp passed on. Bertha Laxdal Curry—Mrs. D. S. Curry—though not a resident of Winnipeg, was a staunch supporter of our work for the children of this city, where she spent the years of her youth prior to her marriage. This convention gratefully offers thanks for the interest shown and generous support given to Sunrise Lutheran Camp through her son, Peter D. Curry. The Curry Cottage is a fitting memorial in her honor. We who knew her, will always remember and cherish her memory and her benefactions.
