Gudrun Sheila Gray
Born May 29, 1902 — Died April 5, 1955
“The sun has set while it is yet
day.” Her day dawned with much
promise. The sun shone on her
throughout her childhood spent in
the home of her parents; it shone
throughout her girlhood spent in
securing an education; it shone as
she blossomed into womanhood
which brought romance, a happy
marriage and motherhood. Then,
shadows began to creep into her
day, shadows of ill health which
deepened and lightened alter-
nately. Suddenly the sun set. Her
soul had gone on to the land of
everlasting day.
Sheila Gray was born on May
29, 1902, in Churchbridge, Sask. Her parents were Sigurveig and
Jon Arnason. She attended Wesley College, Winnipeg, the Normal
School, Regina, and taught school in Saskatchewan.
On July 11, 1926, she was married to Harry H. Gray, set up
home in Regina and then in 1929 they moved to Winnipeg. She
was a member of Dorcas Society of the First Lutheran Church and
the De Molay Mothers.
Sheila was a talented actress and with her husband enjoyed a
successful career, both in the Grand Theatre, Regina, and in a
Summer Stock Company. After she moved to Winnipeg, she de-
voted herself almost entirely to her home, in her best-loved role,
that of a wife and mother.
She is survived by her husband, a daughter, Mrs. Gloria Dagny
Bubb, a son, Gerald, her mother, a brother, Arni Arnason, and
three grandchildren. “He whom we adore, shall keep thee hence-
