President's Report
By Mrs. ELIZABETH BJARNARSON
Dear Sisters and Fellowworkers in the
Lutheran Women’s League:
It is now nine years since we were the guests of the four
Lutheran Ladies Aids of the Argyle district. We look back with
pleasure on that very memorable occasion. Today we are here
again, anticipating another enjoyable convention.
I take great pleasure in welcoming delegates, officers and
visitors to this, the thirty-first convention of the Lutheran Women’s
League.
The president’s report is usually a short summary of things
accomplished during the past year, and of things we need to accom-
plish in the coming year. As last year’s report dealt with a very
worthwhile project indeed, that of sanitation for the Sunrise
Lutheran Camp, you might like to know just what has been accom-
plished in that line. The building was erected early in the summer
and plumbing was installed by the end of July.
We thank those who helped to finance this project. It proved a
burden financially, as the certificates issued and sold at a dollar
apiece (namely, a gift of a dollar) did not sell as well as expected.
The camp committee therefore had to borrow funds from the
operational fund, and this will have to be replaced. So we still
need financial aid from our societies to clear off the debt.
The grounds around the building need to be levelled off. A
very costly procedure. I am therefore asking the delegates to report
to their societies that a good will campaign for funds for the camp
would be much appreciated.
The camp committee has worked hard for the camp and had
a great deal of responsibility regarding it, and I extend to its presi-
dent, Mr. Bjerring, to the camp director, Mrs. Olafson, and to the
committee members our sincere gratitude for their unselfish devo-
tion to the camp.
The Children’s Trust Fund is another project and is dear to the
