Gudrun Thordarson
1900 - 1961
Gudrun Thordarson was born at Winnipeg Aug. 15th, 1900.
Her parents were Ivar Jonasson and his wife Gudrun. Gudrun or
Runa as she was called by her friends lost her mother in infancy.
She passed away on a beautiful summer morning July 18th, 1961.
The world was indeed beautiful when Runa bade farewell to her
loved ones leaving them and us for a more beautiful place on
high.
Runa was brought up for a time by her aunt Thura Anderson
of Winnipeg, now deceased, but mostly by Groa Goodman of Oak
Point. To these two women whom she loved dearly, Runa paid ever-
lasting tribute.
Runa had a deeply sensitive nature, always wished to be in

deep generosity.
Runa attended the Lutheran Church at Langruth, she loved her
church and was never found wanting. She was an ardent worker
in the Ladies Aid, giving it her strong support, for supporting the
Ladies Aid meant supporting the church.
She was a lover of all children, showering them with gifts of
love. She spread her protecting arm around a family of children
who had lost their mother, taking particularly care of Buddy
Eastman, making him one of her family. The Eastmans owe her
a debt of gratitude. She was a very dear fi’iend to have, greatly
missed and mourned by the community in which she lived.
When Runa was thirteen years of age she moved to Langruth
to live with her father. At the age of sixrteen she married Freeman
Thordarson and lived with him in abounding love, theirs was a
union blessed by God. They took up their residence on a farm
in the Hollywood district near Langruth where they lived until
her death. Four children were born, Thomas, a veteran of the
