After b, minuscule r is found: briotuw 1 r 13 etc. Long r occurs only once:
{Darftu 1 r 13— 14.
Long s is used exclusively in this hånd with, apart from capitals, only
three exceptions: raj^s lvlO, dags lvl6, iohannes 2r22.
The Capital letters, m, n, and r, are used with some frequency outside
their proper function. m, in the form of the uncial which seems to stand
for the Capital, is used only in abbreviations for the plural of mudr:
MonnuM lrlO, Manna 2r 14, mansMeN (with superscript s) 2v7. n
denotes the geminate: e.g. hiorteN lv34, fegeN 2r 17, (3aN 2r28 etc. r is
used for the short medial consonant in beRiaz lr9, but elsewhere for the
geminate: fyRa 2r24, annaRa lr 14 etc. It functions in this way in ligature
with a twice in line end position: vat/a 1 r 15, si{Dæ lr38. n appears once
in ligature with a: mas 2r2. Capital h occurs in eustacHi 2v2.
Geminates are denoted also by a superscript line. il is most frequently
marked in this way: uatta lv7, matte lvl 1, sotte lv35 etc., but pp and rr
are also indicated in this way: fyrre 2r 12, up/t 2r8.
Broken /, which may represent either Capital L or the geminate II*
occurs once in line end position: dia/fo// 2r29.
The Tironian nota is not crossed in this hånd.
A ligature of r and g, possibly of accidental origin, occurs in marguni
lr38. What appears to be a minusculeJ, and is read asJ by Unger (for6...
2r7), is more probably a ligature of long s and c and the lost word
perhaps scord[go5a],
The er abbreviation is used for er (e.g. ver lr7, fyr er lv29 etc.), for r
(e.g. er 2r 16, geor^o 2v9), and for eir in jjeir 1 r 16. Superscript e represents
re in one occurrence: gretum 1 r 15.
Superscript i is used for ri (frij>ar lrl 1), for il in ti/ lv30 etc., and for vi
in lr37 etc.
There are two examples of the ~-sign, both within the same line on
page lv. It represents ur in lettur lvl5 (3rd person singular with
svarabhakti vowel) and yr in fyr lvl5.
The co-sign represents ra in this hånd: heilagru 1 v 13 and siucru lvl4.
Superscript insular a also represents this cluster in such words as cruftr
2r21 and uitrujjumc 2r2. The latter abbreviation is also used for ar in var
lvl2.
