Three overroats

The restaurant Three Overcoats at Úlfar's was opened on March 1st, 1989 and it was decided already then that fish
dishes and whale meat should be the speciality of the restaurant. Most restaurants in Reykjavlk at that time had an
international menu so it was a challenge for my children, Stefán and Gujðný Hrönn and myself to run a top notch
fish restaurant. Now, 15 years and 450,000 guests later we see that this decision was correct although the first
years were difficult.
The variety of the fish market has also become excellent. The fishermen have stopped throwing strange fish over-
board and now bring them ashore. My chefs are also excellent and the waitresses make the service quaint and all
this helps in the running of an excellent restaurant. The whale meat arouses the interest of tourists and when they
taste it they can not praise us enough. Restaurants in Reykjavik are now of a very high standard compared to other
cities in Europe and tourists praise them very highly. The lamb is the best, the fish very fresh and the sauces excel-
lent. These comments warm the heart! ■
