But YOU are also the Church, a member of the Body of Christ.
How are you helping others to know that these are the best years
of life? People are desperately in need of that knowledge. From
outward appearances there is little to tell them that these are the
best years of their lives. Underneath the superabundance of “things”
there is the fear that man does not know how to handle atomic
power or himself. Christian truths may have lip service but find
weak expression in daily life. There is a great dearth of Biblical
knowledge and God’s plan for the world.
The first place for the strengthening of the Christian way of
life is in our home. This is the first and most important school.
Family devotions, a memory of years gone by, need to be revived
for growth in the Way day by day. Many materials are prepared
by the church for all ages and types of families. There will be a real
“knitting-together-in-love” of the Christian family that makes time
for God. Closely related to home devotions is regular attendance
at services of worship as a family. It is a part of the Christian life
for which there is, and can be, no substitute. To neglect this is to
forfeit our faith.
Where, if not in the home, shall we learn the joy of giving?
Giving in time and talents in the work of the Church. And of
our possessions. To give a nickel to our children for the offering
of the church and a dime for a comic book is to deprive our
children of the greatest joy in the world—to be a part of world
work of Christ. As individual members of the family we must
always be growing in the spirit and act of giving.
The second place for the strengthening of the Christian way of
life is in the schools of our church. The thirty hours a year which
a child receives in Sunday School are not enough for all that our
children must face in this life. Let us add another thirty hours
in a Vacation Church School and another thirty hours in weekday
classes. To do this will require many more leaders, much necessary
equipment and the best in materials. There is only one place that
these can be secured and that is from YOU—the Church.
All the support you can give to Sunrise Camp will pay rich
dividends. Just stop to think for a while what a 24-hour experience
in Christian study and fellowship can mean to the boys and girls
