into that dismal uncertain future. Her faith never wavered that
in life and death we were supported by the Everlasting Arms. I
wish to dedicate to her the following stanza:
“When all is done say not my day is o’er,
And that through night I seek a dimmer shore,
Say rather that my morn has just begun,
I greet the dawn and not the setting sun when all is done.”

Guðrún Linekar
Born May 27, 1879 — Died, September 17, 1954
Gudrun Sigridur Halldorsdottir
Linekar was born at Isafyrdi, Ice-
land, on May 27, 1879. When she
was eight years old her parents,
with their family, moved to Canada
where they took a homestead at
Lundar, Manitoba. They were
among the very earliest pioneers
of that district. In the year 1919
she married Simon Linekar, of
English descent.
Gudrun, or “Rooney”, as she was
called, went through the great
hardships that were suffered by
the pioneers of that age. These
hardships often served to bring
people closer together and to de-
velop a spirit of true neighborli-
ness. This quality was so strong in
her that she was an outstanding example of unselfishness and
generosity. Her individual friends, as well as the organizations she
supported, will gratefully remember.
