During and after World War I she was a member of the Jon
Sigurdson Chapter of the I.O.D.E., to which she gave her unstinted
support. In addition to that, many of the soldiers of that war will
remember the many parcels she sent overseas from her own
resources.
She gave her support also to the Ladies’ Aid of the First
Lutheran Church. For many years while she and her husband
operated the “Red Wing”, a restaurant at Grand Beach, they fre-
quently gave a day’s total proceeds to the Ladies’ Aid, and also to
the Jon Sigurdson Chapter. Throughout the years, Mrs. Linekar
continued to support both these organizations in various ways.
For two years Mrs. Linekar served as cook in the Sunrise
Lutheran Camp at Husavik, where she endeared herself to the
children attending the camp.
Mrs. Linekar passed away suddenly on September 17th, 1954.
The Funeral services were held at Bardal’s Funeral Parlors, where
Dr. Eylands officiated, and also at the Lundar Lutheran Church,
where Rev. Fridriksson conducted the service. She had requested
to be buried in the family plot at Lundar. The presence of her many
friends at the services, and also the abundance of floral tributes
bore evidence of the high esteem in which she was held.
Survivors are two brothers, Kristjan of Eriksdale and Margrane
of Lundar, and one sister, Salome, of Winnipeg.
